Acker are joining us from very successful schools where they enjoyed tremendous success.Somerville, Tennessee — Fayette Academy is honored to announce Courtney Brint Burnette as Fayette Academy’s new head of school. Burnette joins Fayette Academy with over twenty years of experience in the educational field including administrative experience in a private school setting giving her the necessary skills to lead as the the new head of school effective July 1, 2016. Burnette is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and received her Master of Science from the University of Memphis.She has worked in both public and private schools and has been a teacher, testing coordinator, academic advisor, and middle school principal. Burnette is joining Fayette Academy from the University School of Jackson (USJ) where she served as the the former head of middle school.

His wife, Amy, and their three children, Gabby (16), Finley (7), and Kitara (5) will join the Fayette Academy family this fall.

They gave tirelessly and unselfishly to provide the best opportunities for our students,” noted Fayette Academy Board President Steve Crafton.

Rita Powell, Fayette Academy’s Head of Lower School, will retire at the end of June after serving eight years where she started her tenure as an elementary counselor followed by her role as elementary principal. Powell served in a leadership capacity for decades in the Shelby County School district where she excelled in the area of classroom instruction, curriculum, and teacher training. Powell worked closely with parents, teachers, and students to ensure that a comprehensive approach to learning was available for every student.

Rick Sullivan, Fayette Academy’s Athletic Director and Student Discipline Coordinator, will officially retire at the end of June after ten years of service as a teacher and coach before serving in his present position as athletic director. Sullivan managed the day-to-day operations of every facet involving student athletics from scheduling, training, certifications, and regulations. Sullivan managed student discipline and behavior for middle and upper school students. Sullivan served as a teacher and coach in Haywood County Schools where he led Haywood County to a state championship and numerous regional championships.
